What is a LifeCare Celebrate Fund?

A LifeCare Celebrate Fund is a very special and positive way to honour the life of a loved one or friend or commemorate a special occassion, while contributing to the vital work of LifeCare.

Anyone can start a Celebrate Fund, and it will remain open for you for as long as you wish.

Family and friends can contribute to a LifeCare Celebrate Fund in any way they choose - from donations on special occasions, to taking part in fundraising events.

How will my Celebrate Fund help others?

By setting up a LifeCare Celebrate Fund you are helping to improve the wellbeing of those who already use our services and allowing us to reach out to more people who would benefit from accessing our day services or in fact their carers.  Tribute Funds will directly benefit the lives of people in Edinburgh, helping them to access our quality services, reducing social isolation and improving lives every day of the elderly, those with dementia and carers.

How do I set up my Tribute Fund for my loved one?

It's very easy to create a page that is personal to your loved one, and it only takes a couple of minutes. All you need to do is click here , and you will then be directed to the Everyday Hero site, where you can follow the steps to create your Fund.

 

You will need to enter the name of your page (e.g. 'The John Smith Tribute Fund'), and once your page is created, you can then click on 'Edit Story' to write a special tribute and share your words of remembrance. (This can be done at a later date if you prefer to take more time).

 

When you've finished creating your page, you'll be able to update visitors by writing posts and uploading photos. You'll also be able to share your page with friends and family, and encourage donations to help your Fund to grow.

I’m not the next of kin, can I set up a Tribute Fund?

Yes, anyone can create a Tribute Fund for someone special. However, we recommend you contact the next of kin to gain their permission before creating a Fund in honour of their loved one.

What do I do once my page is set up, and can I make changes to it later?

Your page is a lasting memorial to your loved one, and you can use your page to remember them however you wish. As the Fund holder you can log on at any time and change the text, add an update or upload new photos. For more ideas take a look at the 'Grow your Tribute Fund ' section of this site.

How can I share my page with family and friends?

Once you have set up your Tribute Fund and personalised your page, you can share the link with friends and family and encourage contributions to your Fund. If you want to spread the word further, you can also share your page on social media by clicking on the Facebook and Twitter buttons at the bottom of your page.

Can my family and friends contribute to my LifeCare Tribute page?

Friends and family can donate to your Fund at any time, and in a number of ways; either online, by post or over the phone. They can also take part in fundraising events, including runs, treks and challenges, or organise their own fundraising activities.

All the money raised can be tracked and added to the fundraising total for your Fund (see question 8 for more information on adding sponsorship to your Fund).

Can I add offline donations and sponsorship to my LifeCare Tribute Fund?

Yes, you can. Any donations given to you in cash, or via another fundraising page you may have (e.g. for an event), can be added as an offline donation to your LifeCare Tribute Fund.

 

When you are logged into your account, you should see an option called "Add offline donation" at the right-hand side of your Tribute Fund page. Enter the amount you want to add, and when you click "Add Offline Donation", you should see that the total of your page has been increased by that amount.

Can I set up regular gifts to my LifeCare Tribute Fund?

Yes. By setting up a direct debit (this needs to be sorted)  As this money is paid in offline it will not automatically appear on your online Tribute Fund; however, you can add this as an offline amount (see question 8 for details on how to do this).

How can I make the most of my LifeCare Tribute Fund?

You, your family and friends may choose to donate to your Fund on special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries or other special days. You can also add to your Fund by taking part in an event, or by organising your own fundraising activities.

Do I have to set a fundraising target, and how long will my LifeCare Tribute Fund remain open?

The default amount on each page is £100.00, but you can change this amount to whatever fundraising total you would like to aim for. There is no obligation to do so however, as how you grow your Fund is a personal choice. We are incredibly grateful for all donations given in memory of your loved one.

 

Your online Tribute Fund will remain open for you for as long as you wish. If you want to cancel this at any point, you can do this by logging into your page and clicking on 'Edit this Supporter Page'.

Will all the money I raise contribute to my Tribute Fund?

Yes. Whenever you make a donation, send us proceeds from a collection or sponsorship money, you can add it as an offline donation to your page. (If you do not have an online Tribute Fund, please let us know so we can keep a total for you). If you wish, we can also let you know of any previous donations you've made to LifeCare, as these can be allocated to your Fund as well.

Can Gift Aid be claimed on donations?

Yes. All donors are asked to sign a Gift Aid declaration during the donation process.

 

Gift Aid is reclaimed automatically on your behalf, adding approximately 25% on top of each eligible donation to your Tribute Fund.

Can I have a LifeCare Tribute Fund without creating and online page?

Yes. If you would prefer to keep your LifeCare Tribute Fund private, then you can create a Fund offline. Friends and family will still be able to donate to your Fund and we will keep track of all the donations made in memory of your loved one and add them to your total.

We will look after any information we hold about you, and will never sell it or share it with any other charity. We adhere to all industry guidelines and regulations, and require others acting on our behalf to do the same. Read our Fundraising Promise here.
